The Po’ipu Collection is created exclusively using imperfect shells found right here in Hawaiian Waters by yours truly. That means these pieces are ONE OF A KIND! The name Po’ipu comes from the Hawaiian meaning “Crashing Waves” and I chose this name as these unique pieces have survived the shorebreak that made them perfectly imperfect. These cuties can be fitted into jewelry without drilling or wrapping!

18inch Gold Filled Chain with 3 Cowrie Shells.

These are set entirely in 14k Gold-Filled or Sterling Silver Chains/Wire/Clasps/Earring-Hooks. All shells are found by me or my friends rolling in the Seafoam. I do not remove naturally occurring sand from shells prior to setting them! This is mainly due to my own preference and I hope you feel the same.

Why I choose not to drill or permanently alter my Shells:

1- These shells have stood the test of time and shore break. Meaning they have solid shell integrity and I wouldn’t want to ruin that by drilling holes in them.

2- Normal wear and tear. Drilling holes/Electroforming will place pressure points at the hole placement or permanently adhere to the shell. And when jewelry eventually breaks, the wire can always be replaced, while the unique shell cannot. If your settings fail, we can always rewrap the shell, even into a different design.

3- I simply do not feel right damaging shells and prefer to keep them intact just as I’ve found them.

These pieces are ONE OF A KIND so please know that once they are sold - that’s it!

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Care instructions

Most of my listings include a tarnish resistant wire for the sake of keeping our Beachy treasures inexpensive and well.. Beachy! Please keep in mind that tarnish resistant pieces will fade over time the more you expose it to water. Same rule goes for Plated silver and Gold Filled although they take more time. For me I like the way my jewelry looks a little more worn that way but if you'd like to keep it in selling condition please avoid contact with water.

Where does the Seaglass come from?

All of my seaglass is found on Oahu, Hawaii or the Big Island of Hawaii. Each piece was found by myself or my friends and each one is irreplaceable. Because of the isolated nature of the Hawaiian Islands, red, dark blues, purples and yellows are very rare but not impossible to come across.
